Hi racers and friends!

Here are few important updates and reminders for the 4th Annual Choo Choo Chase River Race August 8th, in our NEW LOCATION at River Drifters on the Tennessee River. We’re looking forward to seeing you for part of the 2020 Southern Stoke Paddle Series here in Chattanooga! Tip for a successful race day: you should read this entire email ;).

Packet Pickup and Late Registration:

You can pick up your packet or late register at one of two times (please bring photo ID):

Friday August 7^th4:30-6:30pm; Packet Pickup at River Drifters
Saturday August 8^th 7:30-9:00am Race Morning, River Drifters, 1925 Suck Creek Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37405

Race Weekend Schedule:

Friday August 7:

Packet pickup 4-6 PM at River Drifters. Click HERE for a map link, please bring photo ID.

Saturday August 8:

7:30 am (EST) – Board staging and Registration at River Drifters (if limit not met)

9:00 am – Registration closes; Packet Pickup Closes; racers who picked up packets Friday evening must check in briefly to confirm you are getting on the water.

9:45 am – Mandatory Racer Meeting (all short and long course racers)

10:00 am – National Anthem and Long Course start

10:10 am – Short Course start

11:45 am – Kid’s Race Meeting followed by Race Start

12:30 pm – Lunch Opens

1-1:30 pm – Awards

Rules and Reminders:

No refunds, transfers to another race, nor transferring of bibs to other paddlers.
The race course will not be closed to boat traffic. Please be aware and courteous.
Use of headphones is strongly discouraged as that prohibits your ability to safely hear oncoming traffic and other racers.
A USGS approved PFD is required to race (on person, or on vessel).
Leashes are recommended for safety particularly in the event of wind or current, but please be aware that paddling close to shore/debris with a leash presents potential hazard and risk to racers. Be proficient in leash access and release.
Racer bibs and bodymarking must be on racer's LEFT side of person (or for OC/SKI/KAYAK if preferred, of craft) visible to timing pavilion.
KIDS' COURSE NOTES: The course will be determined onsite based upon conditions and if river current is deemed safe, but is expected to be a short distance (~0.5 mi) within sight of the dock/timing station. PFD is required to race (children under 13 MUST WEAR PFD; on vessel does not count).
