2018 Event Information

Painkiller Cup

Saturday, January 20th, 2018

The 2018 Painkiller Cup will take place on Saturday, January 20th. The race, a 14-mile downwind run from Trellis Bay to White Bay, Jost Van Dyke, is open to any team comprising three racers, at least one of which must be female.

The 2018 Painkiller Cup offers $10,000 in cash and prizes with the winning team earning $4,000. Cash and prizes will be paid to the top 5 teams.

Course & Format

Race Course

Trellis Bay, Beef Island to White Bay, Jost Van Dyke. The start will be in waist deep water at the Eastern tip of Trellis Bay, near Bird Shit Rock. The finish shall be on the beach in front of Hendo’s Hideout.

Race Format

Race starts in shallow water at the mouth of Trellis Bay. SUP racers must switch off their board on a predetermined rotation which is provided to the organizers at registration. The paddle time per racer is 25-minutes. There is no need to switch racers once your team has entered White Bay.

SUP Teams

Teams of 3 racers; at least one racer must be female


Any board 14′ and under. Teams must use the same board for the entire race


It is recommended that each SUP team have their own safety boat.


Racers must wear the supplied jersey at all times during the race.

9:00 am Racer Meeting
At the HIHO shop in Trellis Bay. There is no need for Mini-Painkiller Cup competitors to come to Trellis Bay.
10:00 am Start Time
(though we reserve the right to change this)

Mini-Painkiller Cup

11:45 am
Timed to start as the lead teams pass Sandy Cay.
