Crosswind Paddle Company presents - The 2018 Richmond Paddle Cup, a benefit race for the James River Association. The race will be held on the James River just outside of the capital city on August 11, 2018 at the American Legion Landing in Midlothian, VA. There will be a Fun Paddle (2.5 mi) for more beginner and recreational paddlers, a Long Course (5.0 mi) for more experienced racers, and a 17-Mile Rundown for endurance kayak and canoers! The Rundown will be a mixture of flatwater and rapids from Maidens Boat Landing down to the American Legion Landing. The Long Course will be a flatwater race from The Landing to the 288 Bridge and back! The Fun Paddle will feature a buoy course for paddlers to circuit. SUPs, Kayaks, and Canoes will be allowed to participate in either event, however only Kayakers and Canoers will be allowed to participate in the Rundown race. Awards will be given for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place finishers in each division for Men and Women. Note: There must be a minimum of 3 people participating in the division in order to get awarded. After the events have concluded, there will be an award ceremony with gifts and prizes, as well as refreshments, food, and music for participants and guests to enjoy. All participants will receive a swag bag and drink tickets upon registration. If you are interested in a paddle event but do not have your own SUP, rentals will be available courtesy of Crosswind Paddle Company & East Coast Board Sports. The rentals will be offered on a first come first serve basis, so make sure you to put your name in early!
