The World Paddle Association (WPA) in conjunction with Uptown Columbus RiverFest will host the 2019 Salt Life Columbus Cup on May 4, 2019 in Columbus, GA. The Salt Life Columbus Cup will offer $32,000 in cash and prizes and will be sanctioned by the APP World Tour and included in the APP World Qualifying Series promoted by the WPA and the U.S. Cup Series. 2019 will offer many great changes to challenge the Elite-Pro competitors and provide fun racing for the Open & Junior competitors along with the chance to be crowned "Champion Paddler of the Year". This years race will be part of the Columbus RiverFest presented by Salt Life, which brings together the local community to celebrate water activities and safety that include 2 days of food, drink and bands at the event site on May 3 & 4th, 2019. The event will be conducted on the Chattahoochee River (90 miles South of Atlanta, GA) and three blocks from downtown Columbus.
ALL NEW for 2019, the "ONE CLASS" races sponsored by SIC Maui that will make its debut at the Salt Life Cup in Columbus, Georgia on May 4th. The "ONE CLASS" races sponsored by SIC Maui is a one mile easy race on the SIC 12'6 x 30" Sonic that is a stable but very nice gliding board. All of the equipment with board, paddle, leash and PDF's will be provided with a series of six person heats on identical boards. Men and Women Open age groups for Only a $5.00 entry fee. Bring yourself and fun in mind to have a great day on the river.
The Salt Life Columbus Cup, with inclusion of the APP World Qualifying Series and the Elite competitors receiving valuable points toward the 2019 U.S. Cup and a spot on 2020 APP World Championship tour. Salt Life and the WPA will honor the top placing Open and Junior competitors (3 mile technical race) and a chance to be crowned "Champion Paddler of the Year" in both Juniors and Open divisions. The Salt Life Columbus Cup will offer fun 1 & 3 mile course race for all abilities and the new Elite-Pro double-rapid technical race that competitors will compete on 14' & under inflatable boards ONLY that will be exciting for all competitors and spectators. SUP Yoga clinics and classes will also be available along with a paddle clinics on Friday, May 3rd including 4x World SUP Champion Connor Baxter.
$27,000 cash prize offered to the Elite Rapid Tech Race for both Men & Women, 1st to 6th place overall.
