Update:
SUPCAK will be in person this year! However there have been a few changes. Please pay attention.
1. Instead of running a 10 mile, we are going to swap that to a 10 kilometer race for the long distance. Being one of two live races in the SEP Series this year we wanted to run a more common distance that occurs in the series. We will likely return back to a 10 miler next year or offer the option.
2. Don Carter State Park is limiting us to 50 participants per mass start. Therefore, if we have more than 50 racers registered by October 5th we will have the 10k race at 10 am and the 5k at 12pm.
3. Because of Covid we will practice our social distancing. We ask that you wear a mask when you approach the registration table, and during award ceremony. Depending on how things go we may be required to take temperatures upon arrival, so make sure you aren't running a fever before you leave home that morning.
4. Our event will be very straight forward. We are here to race. There won't be any side activities for families as we had last year, and we won't be grilling and preparing food. We are trying to work in having a box lunch or snack bag available based upon pre-orders. Details to come. Sponsorship was limited this year, so we are just offering a bare bones race, but hey, at least its NOT Virtual.
5. Our boat launch is the beach area and cones will be spaced appropriately to assist in distancing. Racer numbers will be pre-assigned, so at registration the only thing that will be needed is to pick up the number and t-shirt.
Safety is of the upmost importance for this race, both Coronavirus related and otherwise. Please feel free contact me if you have further questions.
Overview:
Welcome to the second annual Upper Chatt SUPCAK Race! Organized by the White County UGA Extension 4-H Club, this race serves as a fundraiser for the White County 4-H youth program. 4-H is a National youth development organization that has been in place for 50 years. For more information please visit www.georgia4h.org. The event will be hosted at Don Carter State Park in North Georgia. This is a wider stretch of the Chattahoochee River where the river feeds into Lake Lanier. Although there is little current in this section, typically the water is shielded from major winds making this a smooth and enjoyable paddle and out of the boat traffic of Lake Lanier. We are encouraging paddlers from all experiences and boat types to come and join us. Whether you are a seasoned competitor or someone who has never paddled in a race before, this event is for you. Open to Kayaks, Canoes, and Stand Up Paddle boards, we have an event for you.
