Austin’s Dragon Boat Festival has been going strong since 1999. In 2018, Island Paddle llc was invited to join in to help add something new to this great event; Stand Up Paddle, OC, Surfski and other paddlesports were added to the Sunday event schedule. The turnout was great in 2018 and we are doing it again in 2019! 

This event offers free spectator viewing on the local tourist hotspot, Lady Bird Lake. There are also live cultural performances, games and food trucks throughout the festival. This event will be fun whether you come join in on the races or cheer on your favorite paddlers!

New for 2019 is the 1K FUN session.  This short race is for all ages, on any size / shape paddle board or any paddle craft. This fun paddle is a great way for first time racers to join in on the fun!  This race will be timed with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners being awarded.
 
This event brings many different paddlesports together under one event. We encourage paddlers to make new friends and maybe even get a chance to experience a new paddlesport, all in efforts to grow the paddlesports ohana.  

If you need a SUP board rental, there will NOT be board rentals available onsite, but please visit many of the local board rental companies around the area and make arrangements. 

All registration proceeds for this event will help secure funding for future Island Paddle race events in Austin.  Thank you for your support.
