Breakout Virtual Paddlesport Race

May 08 - May 16, 2020 @ Holland, MA, USA

GENERAL INFO

The 6-Mile Breakout Virtual Paddlesport Race is being organized to create an opportunity for paddle-sport athletes to compete during these times when social distancing is required and in-person group events are forbidden.

Participation in this virtual race is open to anybody, anywhere in the world.  Participate in a safe manner by maintaining appropriate social distancing.  Be aware of the need for safe participation and on any current restrictions on outdoor exercise and comply with CDC and other guidelines.

I have consulted with NECKRA leadership and I have their support for this event.  If we have strong participation, this race format may be repeated with some variation.  So, lets race!

The rules are as follows:

  1. You must register for the event on PaddleGuru.com.
  2. Registration and participation are free.
  3. The race distance will be 6 miles and you must start and finish at the same location.
  4. Your course may be anywhere in the world.
  5. You must start from a stationary position.
  6.  No drafting or wake riding of any kind is allowed.
  7. Any multiple-person boats will be restricted to partners from within the same household due to social distancing needs.
  8. There will be a two-week window for participating and submitting results from May 1 - May 16, 2020 end of day.
  9. Results must be emailed to wterbush@hotmail.com with either a link to your GPS data or a screen shot/picture of your GPS distance, course time, etc.
  10. Your reward/award will be the adoration and respect of your fellow competitors.
  11. Results will be published on paddlersconnection@groups.io and on the NECKRA Flatwater Facebook page.
