Get out your winter woollies and get a team ready for the 2019 Lotus Ice Breaker V-12 Double-Hull Race! Teams of 12 paddlers, in double-hulled outriggers, will race in scenic (but icy) Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm – there’s a good reason why this race is called “Ice Breaker”! This race will take place on Saturday, January 19, 2019.

There was a huge response to registration; please note that all heats are now full. We have started a waitlist and will contact a team if a spot becomes available.

Race Course: Course announced on race day based on weather and water conditions. Course length will be between 5 and 6 kilometers.

Registration: To reduce fee collection on race day, it would be highly appreciated if your race fee could be paid on-line using the PayPal link at the bottom of this webpage (you do not need a PayPal account).

All paddlers must pay 2019 CORA fees at https://www.canadianoutrigger.com/membership/ . Single event fees can also be paid online.

Equipment: Double-hulled (V12) boats will be supplied. All individuals must wear on their person while on the water a full Personal Flotation Device (PFD) approved by Transport Canada; inflatable PFD’s are not approved for winter paddling at the Lotus Sports Club. PFDs are available to borrow. A limited number of paddles can be made available on request when registering – please bring your own paddle.

Concession: Hot soup, beverages and snacks will be available for purchase. This concession is a fundraiser for the Lotus youth team.

Safety: The Lotus Sports Club strives to ensure the safety of all paddlers at Lotus races. Officials are in contact with the Harbour Master and will abide by guidelines of CORA, the Canadian Coast Guard, and Transport Canada. Please follow the instructions of the race officials.
