Steerspersons’ meeting will take place 30 minutes before your heat and teams will be asked to assemble in the marshalling area prior to boat loading.
All individuals must wear a full Personal Flotation Device (PFD), approved by Transport Canada, while on the water; inflatable PFD’s are not approved for winter paddling at the Lotus Sports Club. PFDs are available; please inquire at the registration desk.
Paddlers need to wear appropriate clothing for the weather; current forecast for the Barnet Marine Park for January 19 is 6 degrees and mostly sunny.
If the temperature drops below zero, watch for ice in the parking lot, on the road or on the sidewalk and ask your paddlers to wear good footwear on their way down to our club and to the beach to prevent slips and falls.
The Lotus Sports Club strives to ensure the safety of all paddlers at Lotus races. Officials are in contact with the Harbour Master and will abide by guidelines of CORA, the Canadian Coast Guard and Transport Canada. Please follow the instructions of the race officials.
