The Connecticut River Museum’s second annual downriver paddle regatta to benefit the Museum’s education programs will take place on August 5th, 2018 from 8:00 – 3:00. The Regatta is open to all paddle craft: canoes, kayaks, stand up paddleboards and rowboats!

This year will feature 2 race routes:

1. Eagle Landing Recreational Race: The 8.74 statute mile race will start at Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam and finish in front of the Connecticut River Museum in Essex. $50 registration per person, $85 for tandem kayaks and canoes.

2. Middletown Points Race: This 21.4 statute mile points race will begin at the boat launch in front of the Wesleyan Boat House located at 35 Harbor Drive in Middletown and finish in front of the Connecticut River Museum in Essex. $80 registration per person, $140 for tandem kayaks and canoes.  Parking is available on the North and South side of the Boat House.

The races are open to men and women age 16 and over, with classes for SUP, Kayak, Canoe and Open. Both races are fully staffed with support and safety boats. Youth ages 12-15 are welcome to participate with a registered participating adult. The races will be followed by awards on the Museum lawn, lunch and activities.

We are recommending participants carpool or find alternate modes of transportation back to their cars.  If this is not possible please contact the CT River Museum with your name and cell phone number and we will do our best to help facilitate transportation.  To help with carpooling, cars can be left on the upper lawn of the CT River Museum starting Friday evening.  There will be a roped off section on the South side of the upper lawn where boats/ boards/ etc can be stored after the race while participants enjoy the post race festivities and wait for rides.

Please consider bringing a refillable water bottle! We will have drinking water on site and would like to make this event as environmentally friendly as possible!
