Ocean games and Walk on Water paddleboard company will host the East Coast SUP CUP on Caroline street in Ocean City MD. The SUP CUP is a fun beach festival comprised of an elite sprint format "Battle of the paddle" style ocean race (3-4 miles), and a fun shorter Open race for all board sizes, all skill levels and age groups (1.5 - 2.5 miles). The family fun event will be held on the beach at Caroline street and will be a great spectator event with all the action right in front of you. Prepare for a full day of sun, fun, beach vendors, goody bags, bands, food, great prizes and awards and oh yeah; PADDLE BOARD racing. The purpose of the race is to raise funds for the ONRP program at Johns Hopkins and bring awareness to brain injuries and recovery. This year all proceeds will go to the John Hopkins Brain Injury Center so there will be no cash prizes. Absolutely NO DAY OF registration.
July 17th Assateague Island State Park
Walk on Water, in conjunction with the Ocean Games and the East Coast SUP Cup, announce the first annual East Coast Sup Surf Championship on July 17th!
Consisting of three divisions- men's, women's and groms/gromettes (14 and under), contestants will be competing at the beautiful Assateague State Park which is home to perfect sand bars and workable waves desired by those riding stand-up boards looking to do performance maneuvers and nose riding.
Points will be awarded to the competitor who executes the best maneuvers while maximizing the use of the paddle on the biggest and most critical section of a wave for the longest period of time- while also displaying speed and control throughout their ride. Riders who fail to utilize their paddles during the session will not be rewarded points. This is an open competition with no board restrictions- as long as it is a paddle board! ...This is a SUP surfing competition after all!!
There is a $50 entry fee. All participants will receive t-shirts and goodie bags.
And as an added bonus for those coming from out of town- there will be camping areas available for those who would like to spend a peaceful evening sleeping under the stars with the wild horses. Reservations can be made at: 1-877-444-6777.
