Goat Boater Race Series #4 of 6 - The 200 M Sprint Heats.
Sprinting has become its own specialty in paddle board racing and this is your day to test your skills. Racers will learn to manage their energy by completing 2-4 heats to win (Quarters, Semi and Finals), some racers may only race 2 heats. Each heat is a 200M straight sprinting course with a standing start and standing finish.
This is by far the most unique race of our series in that racers get to be spectators and spectators get to watch the entire event from the beach. Bring your family and friends to cheer you on while you also are cheering on your competition throughout the morning!
Cash Prizes for top overall finishers!

All Goat Boater Races are capped at 60 racers and this is a SUP only event.
The Tega Cay Beach and Swim Center offers great views for you and your family to watch the race and enjoy some beautiful views of Lake Wylie. The Goat Boater Race series is unique in many ways. Most notably our 1 mile social paddle directly after the race for all paddlers and guests.

This race series has been well thought out, vetted and meticulously planned, yet low key. We plan to race, have fun, do it all season long, and socially paddle 1 mile after each race. We typically wrap things up by noon. Afterward all are invited to join us at Model A Brewing https://modelabrewing.com/grub/ (just down the road) for great food, drinks, socializing and post race fun!
Thank you in advance for your support, patronage and best efforts to have fun and paddle hard. Whether you live down the road and have never been in a race, or are traveling from hours away, you will be warmly welcomed. To date we have paddlers that travel from 5 different states! We may all become best friends, yet when the air horn sounds we will be leaving it all on the water!
Paddle on!
Clinics:
Due to an overwhelming demand, we have a few Saturday clinics, (day before the race) to attend!
Saturday July 9th from 4-6 pm: Race Technique's and Skills by Paddling Monster Matt Jones
Private Lessons at 1:15 pm & 2:30 pm
Matt Jones will be running a must attend clinic for the first 10 people to sign up on Saturday, July 9th from 4-6 on all the things we wish we knew regarding Race Day Strategies and paddling performance skills only the pros know. Please sign up on the paddle guru page or even take your own game up a notch with a private 1 hour lesson for 1-2 people that Saturday before the race!
About the Clinic: "So, you have a paddle stroke that works ok for you. What next? How can you change what you do and when to get the most efficiency out of your technique and fitness? Learn different paddle techniques that are extremely useful in real race scenarios. There are A LOT of different things you can be doing with your paddle and board to increase overall race speed."
About Matt Jones: "Matt has been racing SUP since 2012 when he got his first board - a 29" wide NSP touring board(!) - that got him started on his obsession with paddling and gave him a competitive outlet to put his love of all things body-mechanics. After graduating with a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland, he realized quickly that he liked learning how to push his body to be the most functional it could be. He has since broadened that skillset to include helping others learn how to use their bodies as well as they can, and his primary motivation when coaching others is in helping them striving for injury prevention, longevity of enjoyment, and consistent progress towards a goal. His career in coaching has spanned over a decade and included training both elite and novice athletes. With his support, athletes have gone on to win national titles, improve on their fastest times, and see progress in ways they never imagined. Since that first board, Matt's gone on to ride for some of the best brands in the industry, find his own personal success in local and national races, and paddle on some of the most scenic waterways in the world. If you'd like to learn more about his journey or his training plans, check out www.jonesfitnessandperformance.com."
