Hennessey’s Inc. and the World Paddle Association (WPA) are proud to host the 2013 World Paddle Championships at the Westin Lake Las Vegas, NV on September 20 & 21, 2013. Lake Las Vegas, in the city of Henderson is a picturesque man-made lake 20 minutes east of the Las Vegas strip will host the world’s best stand up and paddleboard athletes vying for World Championship status.
Event Qualifying Update
Entry available for all participants in all events as there will No pre-qualifying required to enter the following races to be conducted (NO Pro athletes allowed to enter Open race):
• Open Race (3.5 miles)- Men/Women SUP Surfboard, 12’6, 14’ and paddleboard stock. (Non Pro entries ONLY, novice and intermediate competitors welcome)
• Pro Long Course (8.5 miles)- Men SUP Unlimited, Men Paddleboard Unlimited and Men/Women Paddleboard Stock.
• Pro SUP Slalom Race- Men 14’ only and Women 12’6 only, two qualifying races (3 miles) Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ- 1.5 miles) and one final race 4.5 miles.
Given the unique stadium amphitheatre the Westin lagoon provides competitors will NOT need to pre qualify to enter this year’s race as there will be multi-lap qualifying races that all competitors need to participate in the SUP Slalom race. Men will compete on 14’ boards and Women will compete on 12’6” boards. The Open race (SUP Surf, 12’6 & 14’ board classes) and the Long course with Paddleboard (Stock & ULT) and SUP Unlimited races will not need qualifying races given the course format. Additional Event Information
Board & Equipment Shipping
Board transportation will be provided for all registered competitors from the Dana Point, CA area to the Westin Lake Las Vegas only. Rates are per board with other equipment that can be included in the board bag and reservations are required by September 7th or as space is available.
• $50 round trip (Dana Point area to Westin Lake Las Vegas and back only)
• $35 one-way
Payment required to reserve board transportation. Truck will be loaded and depart to the Westin Lake Las Vegas on Tuesday, September 17 and arrive by Wednesday, September 18th.
Board Rentals
Board rentals will be available for the event as follows:
• SUP Surfboard- $125.00
• SUP Race 12’6 & 14’- $175.00
Board rental fee can be applied toward the purchase of the rental board. A credit card damage deposit of $250 will be held on each rental board. Damages to any board will be taken from the deposit as needed. Awards party Transportation (must be a registered guest at the Westin)
• Reservations are strongly recommended for transportation from the Westin Lake Las Vegas to the Awards Party at Hennessey’s/Downtown Las Vegas (see below schedules).
• Buses will depart for the awards party from the Westin Hotel at 5:00pm and 5:45pm on Saturday, September 21 and return at 10:00pm and 11:30pm back to the Westin Hotel only.
