Island Paddle's G-Bay Paddle Race 2014

September 27 @ Palm Beach, Moody Gardens®, Hope Boulevard, Galveston, TX, United States

GENERAL INFO

I
sland Paddle is hosting its second annual G-Bay (Galveston Bay) Paddle

Race series in one of Galveston Island’s most iconic places –
Moody Gardens!  This family – friendly event will feature

both a Stand Up Paddle and Kayak / Canoe race open to everyone from a beginner

to a seasoned pro.

A percentage

of all proceeds from the race will go to local and national charities that

are in line with our mission and beliefs.  This year, we will be benefiting the Mauli Ola

Foundation.

The Mauli Ola Foundation (MOF) began

as a group of surfers who banded together to introduce surfing as a natural

treatment for people with cystic fibrosis. Mauli Ola translates to “breath of

life” in Hawaiian.  Since 2007, the MOF

has taken nearly 1,300 CF patients surfing at nearly 100
Surf Experience Days, and has now

expanded its reach to hospital visits and other activities that touch the lives

of kids with cancer and a variety of other health challenges. In 2010, the MOF

was awarded The Agent of Change Award by SURFER Magazine for its positive

contributions and example to the surfing community.
