SPORTS HAMPTON invites you to paddle the waters that played a pivotal role in settling America.  The races depart from PARADISE OCEAN CLUB in Historic Fort Monore on the Chesapeake Bay and continues toward Old Point Comfort Lighthouse and the Hampton Roads Harbor. Courses proceed toward the Hampton River, sailing the waters of Captain John Smith and the First Settlers and passing Hampton University and Blackbeard's Point, where the notorious pirate's head was displayed on a pike after his capture off the coast of Ocracoke Island in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

There will be several paddle events to include the FREEDOM SURF 12 mile elite course, a 6 mile long course, and a 2 mile short course for Stand Up Paddle Boards, Kayaks and Canoes. APPOMATTOX RIVER COMPANY is the OFFICIAL Kayak and Canoe Sponsor.

The current prize purse for the elite FREEDOM SURF  SUP competitions is more than $2000.00. The first person to finish the FREEDOM SURF 12 mile SUP event  overall receives $2000 (male or female). The first female to cross the finish receives $750.  There is also a $500 sprint event.  The BANXblock “Dash for Cash” SUP event will be held for the elite competitors upon completion of the 12 mile event. First to finish gets the cash.

TULA ADVENTURE SPORTS SUP YOGA and FITNESS will take place during the day and a Keiki Race (ages 13 and Under) will take place Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.   KM HAWAII, is donating a Kids SUP board for the PRIZE PURSE, an $1100 value. The Keiki Race will be held in Mill Creek located on the western side of the Fort Monroe Peninsula.  (A minimum of 5 participants required to hold the Keiki event.)
