Lake Jocassee Paddle Splash 2024

October 5 @ Lake Jocassee, SC, United States

COURSE MAP

The start line is at the State Park's Day Use/Single Vehicle Parking area. There is ample grassy space to stage boats, next to the Eclectic Sun concession.

Both the long (10K or 6.2 mile) and short (5K or 3.1 mile) courses are along the southern shore, usually protected from any wind. Powerboats are present, but seldom numerous; watch for wakes.

Spectators can see the racers pass from either of the two most remote Day-use boat launch ramps, seen above. There is a new remote launch ramp, closer to the starting line, not pictured above, but the race won't be visible from there.

All racers are required to wear a PFD with attached whistle. Safety boats will be stationed along the course. While hazards are uncommon, the lake is large, the shore is rocky, and the water is very deep. Swimmers and SCUBA divers use the lake, so stay observant.

This is the view from the first (short course turn-around) buoy. Long course racers will go to the left of the land prominence ahead to find the second buoy for their turn-around.
