For the 19th year we are looking forward to welcoming a competitive field of racers to row or paddle the Lighthouse To Lighthouse Race along the scenic Norwalk Islands on the Connecticut shore. This year, we will have race events on both Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th.

Boat Drop:
FISA competitors are permitted to drop off craft at Shady Beach on Friday 13th 2019 from 4pm for rigging and overnight storage. We will have security on site overnight.
Race Info:
We are planning to start racing around 9:30am each day. Please arrange to arrive roughly two hours in advance of that to give you time to register, get your race number, shirt, and meal ticket, as well as to attend the pre-race and safety briefings. Please note that both 7 and 14 mile races will have a 4 hour time limit. Any boat having trouble finishing by the deadline will be instructed to accept a tow back to the start, or arrange to have their boats picked up and returned to the beach.
Boat Classifications:
You will be asked at time of registration to select a class and enter the name of the manufacturer and model of the boat you will be racing. Please be accurate and detailed so that we can review and confirm conformity with the selected class in advance of the race.
For paddled boats (kayaks), as is customary, we will be using the Soundrower's system of classification for paddled craft, with a few exceptions:
Sea Kayak, Fast Sea Kayak, Surfski (SS20), Surfski Single, Surfski Double

For the aloha folks (ECORA):

For rowed boats we have:
- Fixed Seat Racing, Fixed Seat Touring, Sliding Seat Racing, Sliding Seat Touring, Pilot, Livery, Workboats, Whalers.
For FISA coastal rowers:
- FISA Single, FISA Double, and FISA Quad
Lastly, we welcome SUP paddlers both prone and standing:
- 12'6, 14 and Unlimited
Both male, female and mixed crews are valid, as are single and multi crewed craft.
Vessels of any other style or design will be classified as Open unless a 3 or more similar vessels register in order to invoke an new class.
Awards:
Once racing has concluded, we will present awards to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each boat class, and for each gender (male, female, mixed crew), and also for each crew size (1, 2 6, etc.). For East Coast Surfski events we also have age groups due to the volume of craft.
Food and Entertainment:
Following each days racing we will have a beach party for all racers and guests of the racers and volunteers. On Saturday we are having a luau, and on Sunday the party will feature Wayne's famous clam chowder and a raw bar as well as delicious food from the grill. We will also feature music and a range of craft beers in case you are thirsty. There is plenty of space and parking, bring the family for a great end of season event.
The beach party, including food and drink, is included in the race registration fee; non-racing guests are asked to make a donation of $20 for food and drink. Guest tickets can be purchased either during registration, or on the day of the race.
