The MEMORIAL BEACH CHALLENGE (formerly Stand Up 4 SEALs) SUP Race features a triangular shape course that will challenge competitors both in water and on land. Join us as we Stand Up to honor our nation's heroes!
RACE:
On May 23, 2015, join ocean athletes, adventure racers, and teams of all
ages for a day of competition and camaraderie to honor our nation’s
heroes. The Memorial Beach Challenge SUP Race will take place side by side with an actual Navy SEAL inspired Obstacle Course Challenge as well as a kids Fun Run. The morning concludes with a Memorial Paddle Out that we encourage not only the racers, but the entire community's participation. Plan to spend the day in "America's Greatest Family Resort,", there is something for everyone in your family to do and to remember the true reason of why we can stand free every Memorial Day.
Each race is organized 100% by volunteers and 100% of the money raised goes to One Team One Fight, a
partnership between the 31 Heroes Project, the Navy
SEAL Foundation, and the Travis
Manion Foundation.
Please continue to the registration page on paddleguru for the SUP race, if you would like to sign up yourself or others for the Obstacle Course portion, the Kids Fun Run or to volunteer, please click Memorial Beach Challenge. It is possible to do both the SUP race and the obstacle Course, please alert Becky at ocpaddleboard@comcast.net if you have registered for both events, so that we can make sure your receive the proper heat for the Obstacle Course.

COURSE:
This
course is very challenging both in the ocean and on land. It has
been designed to test competitor’s technical and surfing skills as well as
their muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance capabilities. The overall distance of the ocean course
is 4 miles and what makes this super unique is the sand portion of the course
where each competitor must beach their board in between laps and run up and down a large sand dune, and complete two other fitness obstacles before grabbing their board/paddle and heading back to the water.
Individuals : Complete 1 mile ocean lap, beach board, continue to the 3 land obstacles, grab board and repeat 3 more times, on final lap run through marked finish line.
Teams: Team composed of 4 people will begin with first person completing the 1 mile ocean lap, beaching board, and continuing to the 3 land obstacles. Person #1 will then high five next teammate who will repeat same course. Final person will complete the lap and 3 obstacles and run through marked finish line.
