Greetings Prone Paddlers!  Oceans Prone Paddle is excited to bring you our inaugural Oceans 20 prone paddleboard race.  

Our long course race (20 miles) will begin at **UPDATED** 6:00am** in the water just off the beach and out front of the Oceans Cafe and Grill.  Paddlers will line up at the nearest Coast Guard buoy on the south side of the famous surf spot, "Sh*tpipe".  The race will take paddlers on a southern course through the beautiful South Bay Coastline and the Beach cities of Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach and out to the R10 buoy located just off the picturesque bluffs of Palos Verdes.  Paddlers will round the R10 and get the opportunity to test their line for their final stretch of the "Catalina Classic" and get a taste of what the conditions might be in late August.  Once paddlers glide by the Manhattan Beach pier, they will focus in on the last few miles and round the coast guard buoy one last time and sprint in for a beach finish.

Participants of The Oceans 20 are being encouraged by the Catalina Classic race committee to list the Oceans 20 race as one of their qualifying races to be considered for the Catalina Classic race.

Short Course Race:
Our 2-mile short course race is designed for newer paddlers or experienced paddlers who are looking for more of a sprint race or for those who want to try out some of our boards that are for sale.  For this 2 mile event, paddlers will start at the coastguard buoy just south of the famous "Sh*tpipe" and paddle south towards "Hammerlands" and round the Oceans Prone buoy and head back for beach finish just below Oceans Cafe and Grill.
Paddlers who are new and have had their checkout lesson with us, we will have boards for rent.  Please contact Kurt or DJ for more details and to reserve a board for the race!
