Paddle for Access

GENERAL INFO

The second annual Paddle for Access hosted by Clean Ocean Access is a 3 mile or 6 mile paddle (SUP) or kayak around Goat Island and Rose Island in Newport, RI to celebrate our efforts to protect and preserve shoreline access throughout Rhode Island!


 

Restrooms are available at the Newport Shipyard and SUP/Kayak drop-off is available inside the Newport Shipyard gate.

Please bring a reusable coffee mug with you if you wish to have coffee.

Street parking only, please do not park at Newport Shipyard. 

Following the race will be an award ceremony with complimentary breakfast from Belle's cafe.

All participants must wear a personal flotation device and leash during the race.

The 3-mile and 6-mile races include subcategories based on board length and gender. Awards are giving to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each category.

The 3-mile race will start at Newport Shipyard heading north towards the southern tip of Coasters Harbor Island. From here participants will then head south on the west side of Goat Island, circling the southern tip and ending back at Newport Shipyard.

The 6-mile race will start at Newport Shipyard heading north towards the southern tip of Coasters Harbor Island then heading southwest circling Rose Island counter-clockwise, next heading back to the southern tip of Coasters Harbor Island. From here participants will then head south on the west side of Goat Island, circling the southern tip and ending back at Newport Shipyard. 


All participants will be provided a stainless steel Clean Ocean Access branded pint glass and a breakfast sandwich immediately after the race.
