Race Description

The Paddle Battle is fun for paddlers and spectators alike. It starts and finishes at the Port Royal Foundation  Maritime Center on the pristine Chechessee River in "Cool Coastal Port Royal".

There are two race distances: 3.5 miles ( should be ideal for intermediate paddlers) and 7.0 miles (will be  challenging, even for advanced paddlers).

Awards and a post race get together for lunch will be held at Bertos Tex-Mex Restaurant in nearby Habersham, SC.  For a $10 fee,  racers get a  beer or other drink, chips and salsa, and a choice of Burritos or Enchiladas! GPS is 9 Market, Beaufort, SC

Spectators can watch the start and finish from the porches and docks at the Maritime Center.

Fees

Adult: $45. $50 after midnight Sun., Sept. 17.

Youth: $25

Bertos Lunch: $10


Raffle Prizes

- Epic  wing paddle. Carbon blade + green shaft. Small Mid Wing model. 205 to 215 cm. Retail value $299.

- SUP Lesson for two, hats and $50 gift certificate  from Tim Lovett at Higher Ground Outfitters

Other Good Stuff

Classes

Boat classifcation is primarily based on the Sound Rowers System. Go here to learn about the System and view a list of boats and classes. Please contact me if you have questions.

High Performance Kayaks and Surfskis - (HPK)–  Unlimited class with no specification limits. 

Fast Sea Kayak (FSK) – any single kayak or surf ski with  a 4” waterline beam of at least 8.5% of length.

Sea or Touring Kayak (SK) –   any single kayak or surf ski with a 4” waterline beam of at least 10.8% of length

Recreational - Non racing craft, preferably 14 ft or less in length.  Basically, anything goes!

SUP14'

SUP - 12'6"

SUP -  12' or under (surf)

Prone - 12'6"

Prone - 14'

OC-1 – Any one person outrigger canoe

C-1 Unlimited

Tandem – Any tandem canoe, kayak, or outrigger.

Pedal Boat - Hobie Mirage, etc.

Rowing Boats - 1 person

Each   class is further broken down into Open (any age), Master (50 to 64), and Senior (65+)
