Join the fun for the 18th annual Powerhouse Paddle & Swim to support the Del Mar Life Guard Association. This challenging yet friendly open ocean event features a six-mile SUP and prone paddleboard race, as well as youth and adult swims. All ages and abilities are welcome … bring the family for a morning of fun at Powerhouse Park in Del Mar.


Race Activities:

  • Stand Up Paddle and Prone Race: 2 and 6 mile loop. Open to all ages.  
  • One Mile Swim: Open to all ages. Beach start and finish. Age group awards.
  • Youth (10 and under) 250 Yard Swim. Beach start and finish. Awards for all participants!
  • Youth (12 and under) 500 Yard Swim. Beach start and finish. Age group awards.
  • Food & Cheer


Races will be awarded as follows:

SUP and Prone, 2 and 6 mile races:

* there must be at least 3 per age group prior to on line event closure for awards in a division. 

*less than 3 per age division will be considered open

2 mile: SUP and Prone Open Board Divisions

18 and under Male and Female

19 and up OPEN Male and Female

Kapuna/Wahine (50+) Male and Female

6 mile Divisions: SUP: any board, Prone: UL (14 and up) and Stock

18 and under Male and Female

19 and up OPEN Male and Female

Kapuna/Wahine (50+) Male and Female


Swim, one mile: USA Swimming and Masters Age Groups


Registration includes delicious food and a cool hoodie sweatshirt:

  • $60 on line for 1 mile swim and paddle, $40 on line for youth swim
  • $70 on-site/day of for mile swim and paddle, $50 day of for youth swim
  • $70 on line for COMBO event: swim and paddle, $80 day of for COMBO

 Advance registration closes at 11pm on Thursday, September 29th. Hoodies can NOT be guaranteed without advance registration.

The Del Mar Lifeguard Association promotes beach safety awareness and professional lifeguard standards through public education, training programs, exchange programs, competition and other means. Their ultimate goal is to prevent and reduce aquatic injuries, accidents and death at open water beaches in the United States and throughout the world.
