RAPA NUI - Power Island 2025

RAPA NUI 2025

3 mile paddle , 2 mile trail run, 3 mile paddle to finish

Start from water, at the Bowers Harbor boat launch, line-up between buoy.

ALL boats and boards have to be equipped with PFD (life jacket/s) - Coast guard approved - no exception !

We recommend for the life jacket to be worn during the paddle legs and recommend use of a leash by all participants.

Paddle direction is South South West towards middle of Power Island - (dock and beach)

Distance 3 miles. There will be a flag on the beach for better orientation.

Beach your boat/board south (left from the flag) - Double K2, C2 or OC2 - one person can stay with the boat -ONLY one team member has to complete the run.

The Run portion of the race is mainly on a narrow two track and a short portion of a single track and will be marked/flagged (you can paddle wearing your running shoes or bring them with in a bag)

Direction of the run is clock-wise around the perimeter of the island.

Each person will receive a small Rapa Nui trophy in the middle of the run to bring back to the finish line.

Finish the run portion of the race back at the beach and paddle back to Bowers Harbor

Finish at Bowers Harbor by crossing the finish line either by tip of the boat or touching the beach or your foot on the beach _ will be determined at the day of race based on water level

RAPA NUI MAIN TROPHY  - TOP 3 with Kayak paddle, TOP 3 with SUP paddle, TOP 3 with Canoe paddle and TOP 3 in Prone category.

CASH PRIZE for setting a new course record in any of the MAIN Rapa Nui category.


COMPLETE /not compete  (team of TWO paddlers - ANY type of paddle craft/s)

Same course as Rapa Nui Race.

This is none competitive event for teams of two paddlers. 

Teams of TWO will start before the race to complete the course TOGETHER  at their pace/ without timing.


SAFETY:

All participants have to know/be able to swim and ALL boats and boards have to be equipped with PFD (life jacket/s) - Coast guard approved - no exception !

Inflatable PFD has to be worn and we also strongly recommend for the none-inflatable  life jacket to be worn during the paddle legs and recommend use of a leash for all crafts!. 



Awards:

Top 3 from each category male and female will receive race medals

MASTERS category 55 years and older in overall SUP and KAYAK/SURFSKI - minimum  3 participants in class for Masters awards.

OVER ALL male and female winners for both two blade paddle (Surfski /kayak) , single blade SUP paddle (SUP all classes ) and single blade Canoe paddle will receive RAPA NUI Trophy!   Double kayaks/SS, OC2 or C2 are permitted -ONE paddler has to run !  PRONE category for both male and female.

Portion of race registration is going to benefit the Grand Traverse County Parks - Power Island.
