SUP Invitational- Key West

                                           EVERYONE IS INVITED!

Join us for a 2 mile paddle board and beach obstacle course to support Special Olympics Florida- Monroe County! 

You don't have to be a paddle pro to participate! All level of abilities welcome.

This amazing event is in it's 5th year and brings together paddlers of all abilities! No qualifying or special invitation needed. EVERYONE PADDLES! 

All events will occur at Higgs Beach in Key West!

Your $25.00 race registration sponsors one Special Olympics Florida SUP athlete to have a FREE fun race weekend.

                           Saturday Oct. 15

Saturday Oct. 15  - Pre Registration-- Higgs beach
4-8 pm. Pre registrations on site. Buy your raffle tickets. Sponsor an athlete. 
Meet and Great with all race participants. Sue Cooper will be outlining the courses on site at a racers meeting. 

SUP Safety Clinic-Sat. Oct. 15  3:30 pm -5 pm. Higgs Beach
Learn how to safely get started in Stand Up Paddle. Tips geared to beginners and Special Olympics Athletes who want to learn how to be independent paddlers.

Please check in promptly at 3:30 p.m. to be fitted for the right equipment. 

Tina Fenton from Southern Tier Stand Up Paddle Corp. in Binghamton, New York will be offering a beginners paddle lesson for a $35.00 donation prepaid or $40.00 the day of. 
Limit to 8 spots. 
All equipment will be provided. Feel free to bring your own if you wish. All participants will receive safety instruction and basic paddling instruction to get started in the sport. Tina runs an Adapted Paddlers program and is skilled with all levels of abilities. Her training specialty is with beginning and non typical paddler. World Paddle Association (WPA) Level 1 SUP, Paddle Fit Level 2, NETA Yoga and ACA Level 2 Certified, with a speciality in Adapted Paddling. 

Master Zumba Class- Sat. Oct. 15  4-5 pm Higgs Beach Pavilion

Warm up your racing muscles with Ana Cano-Master Zumba Fitness Teacher- certified. $15.00 prepay, $20 on event day 

 Sat. Oct. 15 Sunset Dinner/Dance-- Higgs Beach
5 pm.- 6 pm. Salutes on the Beach buffet--- PREPAY ONLY
6 pm.-7:30 pm Traditional Special Olympics pre-party dance in the Pavillon.-- FREE TO ALL

7:30 am- Volunteer Check in and Volunteer meeting
8:00 a.m. Check in all racers- General Public and Special Olympics- Please be ready to join in the Olympic Ceremony! 
8:30 am. -We will kick off the day with a traditional Special Olympics Florida Opening Ceremony,  parade of athletes, racers and lighting of the torch. You do not want to miss joining in the  recitation of the oath and  experiencing this moving ceremony.
9:00 am-   Racers meeting 
9:30 am-  Open Race and Level 1 Special Olympics Races
11:00 am- Special Olympics Coaches meeting 
11:15 am- Level 2 Special Olympics Races
12:00 pm- Special Olympics Athlete Lunches Served (donated Bag Lunches from the Blind Pig) all others are welcome to eat at Salute on the Beach or should bring lunches. 
12:30 pm- Level 3 Special Olympics Races
                 Kids Races
                 Level 4 Special Olympics Races

Special Olympics Ribbons awarded for all Special Olympics Races
First 10 Men, First 10 Women for Open Race awarded at a traditional Special Olympics Awards Ceremony.
Special Olympics and General Public Awards Ceremonies will be held immediately  after each race. 

Lunch will be FREE to all Special Olympic Athletes- Wrist Band required 

Volunteers for the event are needed.

Special Olympics Florida Athlete Races will be held inside the swim zone of Higgs Beach with distances of .5 to 3 miles, with exact course to be determined closer to the event to accommodate conditions and ensure safety. All races will be a beach start and finish. 

General Public Race will be a 2 Mile  Paddle/Beach Obstacle Course. All racers will be visible from beach. This is an UNTIMED fun race with finisher medals for all.
