Serene 18 Paddle Trail & Outdoor Augusta is inviting you to take the Serenic Route...but a whole lot faster!
Proudly announcing, the Serene 18 Paddle Race at Betty's Branch! The race will take place at Riverside Park, 25 Dolphin Way, Evans, GA 30809 where Bettys Branch and the 6 Mile loop around German Island are located. This loop will serve as our race course.
The race is part of the Southeast Paddle Sports Series, www.sepseries.com, and is eligible for series points.
In order for an all at once start to be possible, we are planning to paddle out to the bottom of the island and up to the railroad tracks on the Savannah River. From that point we will have a loud sound start, where race participants will go from just above the tracks, down to the bottom of the island, paddle up the Little River, clockwise around the island, and back down the Savannah River, crossing under the tracks again to complete the course. We are excited to do it this way! Typically the flow of the river is minimal in the morning, which will allow for an easy start.
There will be guest appearances by the world famous Redford & Benny, the master guides to the Serene 18 Paddle Trail!
This is the first of a series of Serene 18 Paddle Races! Come join us for an ear mark in Columbia County history! Check out all the paddle trails while you are in town by visiting www.serene18.com. More events for the weekend, such as sunset paddles and guided tours of the other trails will be available and updated as we get closer to the race date!
Safety - U.S. Coast Guard approved PFDs (personal float devices) must be worn during the race or be easily accessible on your paddle craft. Inflatable waist worn PFDs are acceptable. Whistles or other devices for requesting assistance are recommended.
