Suwannee River 230 2025

May 10 - May 14, 2025 @ Griffis Fish Camp, 10257 GA-177, Fargo, GA 31631

GENERAL INFO

The Suwannee River 230 starts at Griffis Fish Camp in Southern Georgia. At this point the Suwannee River resembles a creek as it drains from the Okefenokee Swamp. The river quickly takes shape and paddlers enjoy unspoiled wilderness as the waterway flows southward. At mile 58 paddlers are required to portage around the Big Shoals. The portage path is marked on the left side of the river. There are several spots to reenter the river after the Shoals. The next five miles have several sets of class I rapids including Little Shoals before the town of White Springs. Racers pass by Suwannee River State Park at mile 108 where the Withlacoochee River flows into the Suwannee. A half-mile downriver from this point is another class I rapid. At mile 159 paddlers will pass by the city of Branford. After passing under a bridge, Ivey Memorial Park is on the left and provides a good resupply point. When racers reach Fanning Springs at mile 201, they will have about 32 miles to reach the finish. The SR 230 ends at the canal leading into the Town of Suwannee. Awards will be given out at Bill's Fish Camp as racers finish.
