TAHOE WATERMAN JAM

The Paddle Jam is guaranteed to be fast off the line as competitors navigate one lap or two lap triangle paddle course. Registration includes a healthy celebration meal. Pre-registration closes Friday,  July 22 at 3 pm.  Race day registration is available for an additional fee and race meal may not be available for last-minute entry. 

The Paddle Jam is the first race in the 2022 Tahoe Waterman Paddle Racing Series. The Paddle Jam takes place on the pristine waters of Lake Tahoe within the North Shores Carnelian Bay, surrounded by gorgeous peaks. Tahoe is a majestic playground for paddlers, a freshwater mecca in California.

LOCATION

Race location and the race start at Watermans Landing, Carnelian Bay, CA.

Paddle craft storage is available for the weekend, spaces are limited, reserve your spot upon registration.

FORMAT

There are three races available: a 4-mile single lap, an 8-mile double lap, and a Grom race.

Grom (1-mile - 1.6 km): The under-12 race is a 1-mile loop starting and ending at Watermans Landing.

One-Lap (4 mile - 6.5 km): The race format includes one 4-mile, triangle, buoy-marked lap on the lake running counterclockwise. Racers start in the water on their craft and finish on the water between the finish buoys.

Two-Laps (8 mile - 13 km): The race format includes two 4-mile, triangle, buoy-marked laps running counterclockwise. Racers start in the water on their craft and finish on the water between finish buoys.

EXPERIENCE LEVEL AND CRAFT TYPES

The Paddle Jam is suitable for all levels of paddlers and paddle craft, including outriggers (OC1, OC2, and OC6), surfski (1 and 2-person), stand-up paddleboard (SUP), and prone paddleboards. Team outrigger racing (OC6) will find the Two-Lap format an excellent chance to set a PR over 8 miles on a fast and technical course. 

SPECIAL SAFETY NOTE

Lake Tahoe is an Alpine Lake at 6200 feet of elevation and we suggest practicing smart mountain safety. Plan to check weather conditions for race day temperature and winds. Plan to dress appropriately.

There is ample free parking at the event site along the streets of Carnelian Bay.

• NOTE: Race-day Registration is an additional $20 per person

AWARDS

All categories will be awarded and the following rules will be applied: For each category, if 5 or more participants are within the respective category, the top 3 will be awarded a prize.  If 4 or fewer participants are within the respected category, only the winner will be awarded a prize.

The Paddle Jam is brought to you by Tahoe Waterman - a paddling community that comes together to celebrate a true love for paddle sports, health, and adventures. They inspire one another, cheer each other on, and at the end of the day, they tell stories and shared race experiences.

LIMITS OF RACE ENTRY

For safety reasons, we limit this race to 120 paddle crafts on the water, additional safety measures will be emailed to you upon registration if necessary. Register early as there is a good chance this race will sell out.

COFFEE, BREAKFAST, AND LUNCH

Watermans Cafe is located on the shores of Lake Tahoe and offers a healthy organic menu with breakfast and lunch served all day, a coffee bar, beer, and wine, and offers exclusive access to a public beach, free parking, a public beach club facility, and the beach is dog-friendly (one of the only "dog beaches" in the Lake Tahoe area). 

REFUND

With the exception of wait-list transfers, entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. If we do not have paddlers on the waiting list willing to accept a race entry, then, unfortunately, we will not be able to offer a refund. In the event the race is canceled due to extreme or unsafe weather, fire, smoke, air quality, or some other unforeseeable event outside of our control, WE CAN NOT OFFER REFUNDS.
