Team River Runner 10th Annual DC Biathlon

What: 10th Annual Team River Runner Biathlon

When: Sunday October 5th, 2014. Check-in starts at 7:00 AM, pre-race briefing 8:15 AM, racing starts at 9:00 AM.

Where: The Washington Canoe Club located just upstream from Key Bridge in Georgetown at 3700 K St. NW, Washington, DC 20007

What's Involved: Approximately 1 mile of paddling and 3 miles of running. Complete both legs (kayak and run) as a single racer, or complete 1 leg as part of a "racing pair" (one member of the pair kayaks; the other runs, or if adaptive, may hand cycle.) Awards (kayak gear) and a chili feast will be served up after the race.

Why: To raise $40,000+ from individual donors and $150,000+ from corporate donors to support Team River Runner in providing healthy paddling adventures for healing severely wounded active duty service personnel and veterans.

Entry Fee: Each racer = $30 before September 15, $40 after September 15. There is no entry fee for "adaptive racers" (i.e. disabled servicemembers, veterans, or civilians.)

Want to be a part of team competition? Create or join a team for either fundraising purposes only or for both fundraising and racing.

Fundraising: Set up your own fundraising as part of the registration process. Check out fundraising tips here . Ask your friends to go to your fundraising page and sponsor you! Send them to teamriverrunner.org/dc_biathlon; they can click on Find a Team/Participant to find your page. Share the Biathlon on Facebook and Twitter with the icons at the top left.

*Teams are an option, so create or join one! Teams represent an exciting way to fundraise AND compete. All teams generating at least 3 complete (paddle + run) race times will be scored against other teams. Total team performance time will be reduced by 1 minute for each $1,000 raised by the team. Download the race details document for more specifics.

Fundraising Note: Please understand that in agreeing to fundraise for Team River Runner, a fundraising goal is just that: a goal. We appreciate your efforts to reach any goal that you set. But in no way are you making any sort of binding commitment to reach that goal. After all, Team River Runner is about vets and volunteers.
