May 17 @ Rockwood Marina & RV Resort 1500 Pumphouse Rd Rockwood, TN 37854

GENERAL INFO

Coming off the success of the original Thief Neck Island Paddle Quest Sept 2024, we are hosting a new race using the popular channel where we held the race in 2024 as a result of the Hurricane.

DUO means TWO DISTANCES and TWO RACES IN ONE DAY!

In the morning for SOLO WATERCRAFT ONLY, choose one or two 5 miles laps (5 or 10 mile race distances).

In the early afternoon for TANDEM OR MULTI WATERCRAFT ONLY, race the one lap, 5 mile course.

Your choice, go all out and get in 15 early season miles or focus on one event.

Must register by April 17th, 2025 to guarantee a tech shirt.

Entry fee includes race entry, a schwag bag, a tech shirt (if registering before April 17th) and one raffle ticket. More raffle tickets for purchase for $2 each and 6 for $10. All proceeds from the raffle benefit the Roane County Animal Shelter.

Boat Demos of Epic Kayaks, NEW BRAND TO US NORDIC KAYAKS, Ozone Outrigger Canoes and Kayaks and Stellar Kayaks (supplied by Paddle Dynamics) will be on Friday, May 16th from 5-7 at the Marina.

Volunteer opportunities. We are in need of volunteers to help pull off a successful event. We will need help with timing, safety boat assistants, parking, raffle prize organization and registration. Volunteers will receive an event T-shirt, a racer schwag bag and a $10 credit towards a food purchase from the Marina Cantina.

Late Registration will be available until the evening before at the Demo event from 5-7pm, there is NO race day registration.

PFDs are REQUIRED to be worn for ALL RACERS (except prone).

Drafting: Drafting is allowed during the event off of any human powered watercraft, either within your category or across all categories. If a random motorboat wake comes your way that you feel would benefit you, that is also fair game.

Severe weather safety provision

We reserve the right to delay the start, shorten or interrupt the race in progress and/or cancel the event due to safety concerns and conditions including, but not limited to severe weather - thunderstorms , lightning or extreme wind.

Food:  There will be food available for purchase from the Maina Cantina right next to the parking area.

Spectator Viewing:

  • The best viewing will be available from lakeside spots at the Rockwood Marina and RV Resort. If you are able to book a spot there, you will be able to see most of the race course. You can also get views from the parking area at the marina or by walking out on the docks.
  • Second best viewing will be from the new Tom Fuller boat landing (large paved area) from the piers jutting out in the water. You will be able to see the first and last ½ Mile clearly and the second ½ mile from a distance.
  • Thirdly you can view from the Old Tom Fuller Boat Landing. Bring some binoculars for better viewing as the racers speed away from the start.
