Although we expect 2021 to be a better year, we are mindful that the pandemic is not eradicated. Accordingly, then, we will maintain safety procedures as local and federal laws dictate near the race date, in our continued effort to protect everyone's health.
It is highly recommended that you periodically check the race requirements listed below as they will be revised frequently in order to reflect the latest CDC guidelines and status of New Jersey's reopening.
Safety requirements will include, but will not be limited, to the following:
1) PFDs and a pealess whistle for all racers, a leash for all SUP paddlers, and either a leg or paddle leash for surfski paddlers. If crossing the finish line without a PFD, you will not be scored.
2) At all times, on land and on water, participants must be aware of maintaining a minimum of a 6-foot distance from everyone else. Frequent hand washing and bringing one's own alcohol-based hand sanitizer are strongly encouraged.
3) Participants are expected to know how to perform a self-rescue, especially in windy conditions or confused water created by boat wake. If you cannot depend on rescuing yourself, please do NOT register.
4) Participants must e-sign a digital waiver PRIOR to race day. When you register, you will see a link within paddle guru waiver text box that will bring you to a new site. Be sure NOT to quit the paddle guru site: your registration is not complete until you return to paddle guru to pay. So we recommend that you keep paddle guru open in another tab when you sign the electronic waiver.
5) Compliance with the most up-to-date New Jersey state travel restrictions in accordance with the prevention of communicable disease spread must be observed. Registrants who cannot reasonably obey the travel restrictions in NJ near race day will receive a full refund.
6) A mandatory virtual Captains' Meeting will be held 24-48 hrs before the day of the race. Day/time TBD
The race director reserves the right to deny entry to any competitor at any time and at her sole discretion.
REGISTRATION: No walk-ons! Registration will close either when we have reached a maximum (to be determined closer to the date of the race) or on Thursday, July 22 at 9:00am EST-- whichever comes first. This event will occur rain-or-shine, barring any storms. Registration is non-refundable, and benefits Save Barnegat Bay and the Sea Scouts Ship no. 129 in Toms River. The sole exception to our no-refund policy is if WE must cancel at any time between now and July 25 due to new concerns regarding the coronavirus: if such is the case, registrants will receive a 100% total-forgiveness refund. We are 100% committed to the health of our dedicated athletes.
Special Accommodation: Paddleboards only are available to rent from Josette Lata: josette@josettelata.com.
Minimum age is 16 years old, experienced paddlers only. Scout Leader or Coach must verify skill level of their paddlers prior to registration.
