Truckee - Tahoe Outrigger Club

Welcome to the Truckee - Tahoe Outrigger Canoe Club

Truckee - Tahoe Outrigger Canoe Club is a non profit organization which provides instruction in basic and advanced techniques in the sport of outrigger canoeing. We provide the tools for you to experience all the tradition and excitement this sport offers.

TTOCC consists of a diverse group of individuals whose focus is to perpetuate the sport of Hawaiian outrigger canoe paddling in the Truckee - Tahoe Area. TOCC is a member of both the Northern California Outrigger Canoe Association(NCOCA) which governs domestic events. TTOCC HISTORY- TTOCC was formed in 2000 by Daphne Hougard.  Daphne envisioned bringing the sport she loved to our area after she relocated to Truckee from the bay area. With a shorter season than any other team in the world, she believed that the combination of the natural athletic enthusiasm of locals and training at altitude could create a compelling and competitive team. Our club has grown to over 50+ members and 3 sites, including Donner Lake, Northshore at Kings Beach and Southshore Lake Tahoe.

Now under the guidance of head coach Mike Gabor, Sue Norman (south shore team founder) and Daphne Hougard (north shore team founder) our local teams are consistently top finishers race after race. Many of our members are earning highly coveted seats in boats on some of the biggest International long distance races around the world.
