USA Surfing Championships 2022

This the USA National Championships for SUP Surfing, SUP Racing, and Prone Paddleboarding, as well as the Team USA Trials for the ISA World SUP & Paddleboard Championship Team. (ISA Worlds will be a qualifying event for the Pan Am Games). New to this years event is the 4-Mile Age Group National Championship Race. Races are only open to US Citizens. The 4-Mile Age Group race is open to all. All races are in the open ocean. National Champions to be crowned!


June 16, Thursday: SUP & Prone Distance Races (ISA/APP Qualifier*)

- SUP & Prone Distance Race will be 8-10miles (TBC). 

Leashes and PFD's are mandatory for all SUP's

8:00-8:40 am - Check in

9:00 am - Race briefing

9:20 am - Race Start

June 17, Friday : SUP Surf (enter at USA Surfing) Surf Signup (ISA/APP Qualifier*)
- Trophies will be awarded to the top 4 finalists in SUP Surf. All SUP Surf participants will receive an event T-shirt and a Hydro Flask 


June 18, Saturday: Technical Prone & SUP Races (ISA/APP Qualifier*) & 

SUP 4-Mile Age Group Championship Race


4-mile Age Group Race

Start outside of the surf line (water start), and finish on the beach (through the waves). 

Leashes and PFD's are mandatory.

8:00-8:30am - Age Group 4-mile Check in 

8:40am - Age Group 4-mile Race briefing

8:45-9:00 - Paddle to start line

9:00am - Age Group 4-Mile Race Start


Technical Prone & Technical Sup Races 

Beach start and finish, with multiple laps in and out of the surf. 

Junior Men's SUP will race with Men's Sup, and Junior Women's SUP will race with Women's SUP.

10:00-10:30am - Technical Prone & SUP check-in

10:45am - Technical Prone & SUP Briefing

11:00am - Prone Men Technical Race 

11:20am - Prone Women Technical Race 

11:40am - SUP Men Technical Race 

12:00pm - SUP Women Technical Race 

1:00pm - Age Group 4-mile & Technical Awards



*Races are only open to US Citizens.


Medals will be awarded to the Top 3 finishers in all racing categories.
All participants will receive an event T-shirt and a Hydro Flask. 


ISA Qualification:

For the Men's & Women's SUP Distance Races, SUP Technical Races and SUP Surfing (Open Divisions), the top 2 finishers in each event will qualify for the US National Team for ISA World Championships. For Junior Men SUP, Junior Women SUP, and all Prone divisions the 1st place finisher will qualify for the US National Team for the ISA World Championships. Qualification for the Men's & Women's SUP 200 Meter ISA Sprint Race (1 Man, 1 Woman) will be selected from within the group of athletes who qualify in any of the above mentioned divisions at a date closer to the ISA World Championships in Puerto Rico. 


Pan-American Games Qualification:

The 2023 Pan American Games Qualification System will be announced in the near future in which the qualifying ISA World Championships and qualification places per event will be confirmed. If the 2022 ISA World Championships is deemed a qualifier or the Pan-American Games 2023, this event is a pathway to Pan-Am qualification.
