Race Description

Texas has a proud history of hosting the USCA Aluminum Canoe National Championships. In 2015 we invite you to come and enjoy our southern hospitality combined with 14.5 miles (7.0 miles for Juniors) of  competitive paddling on the scenic Guadalupe River in Cuero, TX.

     - C2 Marathon/Pro

     - Fun Race: bring a boat or SUP and have at it

Racing starts at 2 PM on Saturday and 9AM on Sunday. See "schedule" tab for more details.

This year, the race runs concurrently with the 43d Annual Cuero Turkeyfest. There are events for everyone, including live entertainment with some of Texas' best singers and songwriters.

Saturday 10/10/2015

- 12:00 AM to 1:30 PM. Check in

          -Jr. Racers may register at either location (CR 766 or Hwy 72)

- 1:30 PM Pre race meeting (mandatory)

- 2:00 PM Start Men’s Open Aluminum Canoe.

- 2:05 PM Men’s Masters Aluminum

- 2:10 PM Women’s and Women’s Masters Aluminum

- 2:15 PM K1 Touring, All Classes

- 2:20 All remaining classes and entries (Turkey fest Catch-All/SUP)

 

- 2:00 Jr. Men’s and Women’s  Aluminum (Jr. paddlers will start from the HWY 72/ FM 3402 / Heaton St. (Old Cuero-San Antonio Rd) GPS: 29.090321, -97.329912 approximately 7miles from start)

 

- Depending on number of entries, some classes may be combined

- Any changes to schedule will be posted on race day

 -Awards for all classes to be held at the finishing area, immediately following completion of race.

- Adult Start: Cheapside Bridge on CR 766.

- Junior Start: Hwy 72/FL3402 (7 mi. from start)

- Finish: Cuero Hway Mile 236 Bridge
           - GPS:29.051293,-97.265117

- Spectate at two bridges along the course
           - Hwy 72/FL3402 (7 mi. from start)
           - Cuero Highway 183 (9 mi. from start)



Directions to start at Cheapside FM 766. Go into Cuero on Hwy 183 South to W. Reuss Blvd. There is a stoplight and signage to Cheapside (Pizza Hut is just before turn). Turn Right on W. Reuss Blvd and veer to Right on CR 766. Go a total of (4.4 mi.) to gravel road past bridge and turn right under bridge.

Directions to finish at Cuero Hwy 236. Return to Hwy 183 in Cuero, turn right. " Go (2.3 mi) on Hwy 183 South through town and across railroad tracks to light at (Morgan St./Arneckville), turn left on E. Morgan Ave. " Follow E. Morgan Ave. for (.5 mi) to FM 236/Arneckville Road. Turn right and go (2.5 mi.) to bridge. Exit right on gravel road before bridge. Turn off before bridge.
