Founded in 2009, Waterman’s Paddle for Humanity (WPFH) is a national grass root event series with the stated purpose of bringing the paddling community together to support a common cause. Over the past five years, WPFH has raised thousands of dollars for its non-profit partners and grown into the Nation’s Largest Bi-Coastal Paddle Event Series.

EVENT FEATURES
 
5K Fun Paddle:
Compete against friends or simply paddle for the pleasure of it. This is a low-pressure recreational paddle and a great chance to experience the thrill of racing in a fun and entertaining environment. Every 5K participant receives a finisher’s medal. This is a timed event with prizes awarded to Top Three Male/Female/Legends 50+/Junior (17 and Under) finishers in all paddle craft classes combined.
 
10K Race Event:
This event is for the more seasoned paddler wishing to test their skill, endurance and strategy. Bring on the burn and share your competitive drive! Every 10K participant receives a finisher’s medal. This is a timed event with Prizes Awarded to Top Three Male/Female/Legends 50+/Junior (17 and Under) finishers in the following paddle craft categories: SUP 12’6”, SUP 14’ and OPEN.
 
Rule 7 Event:
We’ll provide the mystery challenge, you bring the skill! You never know what off the wall challenges will come your way. We toss in plenty of equalizers and speed bumps that it becomes anyone’s winning day! One male and one female will come out victorious!


WPA Info:

5K and 10K are sanctioned by WPA (World Paddle Association.) Participants will receive points for rankings to qualify for both Regional and World Championships in both the 5K Paddle and the 10K Paddle for registered WPA athletes recognized. 


Waterman's Paddle for Humanity is open to Stand Up Paddleboards, Prone/Traditional, Surfski 1/2, Dory, Canoes, Kayaks, OC1/2/6 and other Paddlecraft.

ENTRY FEES


Pre-registration is $50/one event or $60/two events (5K/10K + Rule 7). Online registration closes on Friday, 9/12 at 10pm CST. You can also register in-person at our Pre-Party at Abel's on the Lake on Friday, 9/12 or the morning of the event on Saturday, 9/13 for an additional $10. Credit card, cash or check payable to SUP ATX.

All-Star Pre-Race Paddle Clinic

Want to learn from the Pros? Join fellow racers and paddle enthusiasts for an All-Star Pre-Race Clinic from some of the World's Elite SUP Racers, Shapers and Trainers!


  • The World's #1 Women’s SUP Athlete, Annabel  Anderson, will highlight race training, prep, how to win and most importantly, have fun!!
  • The World's Top Board Shaper to the Stars, Brian Szymanski, will discuss board design as well as body size to board specifics!
  • John Becker, Trainer/Manager and SUP Pioneer, will cover everything SUP!
  • The Paddle World's Most Accomplished Designer/Trainer who has more World Record designs than any other, Johnny Puakea, will review paddle design, paddle technique and how to train like the best!

WHERE TO STAY

There are many hotels in the area of the event but we suggest the Hyatt Regency Austin (Ph 512-477-1234) and the Radisson Hotel & Suites Downtown Austin (Ph 512-478-9611).

POINTS OF INTEREST

- The 5K/10K events are at the Texas Rowing Center
- There are plenty of restaurants, stores and attractions within driving distance of event
- Parking is available on a first come first serve basis
- The event does not provide reserved or vendor parking
- NO vehicles on grass or docks (pack a cart and bring some extra bodies)
- Easy load in - load out area for before and after race
- NO alcohol on boardwalk, dock or in loading areas. Violators are subject to fines and arrest.
