The Westport River SUP Classic is an ACA sanctioned 3 mile recreational or 7.5 mile Elite race on the East Branch of the Westport River in Westport, Ma. Participants will paddle downriver around a buoy and loop back to the start/finish line. Paddlers can except to paddle against the tide and wind for one leg of the race. This year we have added categories for both Unlimited SUP & Prone boards so spread the word
Paddlers will start heats composed of comparable crafts. Times will be kept and recorded for all participants. Competitive racers are allowed within the guidelines of safety and sportsmanship, to push one another to their limits. Casually oriented paddlers are welcome, and may cover the course in a more relaxed fashion though, for safety reasons, all participants MUST clear the course by 12:15pm.
After the race there will be awards, BBQ, & fun races (weather permitting) .The BBQ is free for racers and non – racers are asked to make a five dollar donation that will benefit The Wounded Warrior Project.
Equipment Requirements:
Each participant must wear a USCG-approved PFD (life jacket).
Each participant must also carry a signaling devise such as a whistle.

Parking:
Event parking is located right at the launch so unloading your gear is convenient. Please be considerate of other racers and river users and move your boat or board out of the parking lot and to the designated staging area quickly. The Head does not have a large parking lot so carpooling with other racers is encouraged and please park as efficiently as possible. Once your gear is unloaded you can park across the river along the road.
