GENERAL INFO

Joining the Southern Stoke Series for 2018, Aloha Paddle Sports, in partnership with Charlotte Cycleboats, will host this 7th annual Stand Up Paddle Board Race and fundraiser.  The event will be hosted on Lake Norman May 5th, 2018 at Port City Club in Cornelius, NC.  All proceeds from Paddle4Purpose will help to support six important local charities, Big Day at the Lake, Surfrider Foundation, Peninsula Community Foundation, Pat’s Place, Young Elites Foundation, and IGNITE (a community center in Davidson for young adults with high-functioning autism or Asperger's Syndrome), and one international foundation, Smile Train.


Paddle Events

6.2 Mile Elite Long Course  Same Course as  2015-2017

SUP 14', 12'6" and Open Class (SUP Unlimited, OC, Surfski, Kayak, Prone)

This course will go out across the open water of Lake Norman where wind and boats can cause heavy chop and has the potential to mimic ocean bays and sounds on any given day.

$65 online, $95 day of event


2.5 Mile Recreational Short Course -SUP 17u and 18+

SUP 14, 12'6", and Under 12'6"

$45 online , $65 day of event

The recreational course will be a two lap race mostly within the confines of the sheltered cove


Kids SUP Race - Ages 13 and Under 

Free (No T-shirt)

**Limited number of board rentals available for Recreational race**

Places 1st-3rd Podium Awards will be given in the following categories provided there are at least 3 participants in that category:

Long Course - 14' Men, 14' Women, 12'6" Men, 12'6" Women

Short Course - 14' Men, 14' Women, 12'6" Men, 12'6" Women,

 Under 12'6" Men, Under 12'6" Women


NOTES FOR BOTH SHORT AND LONG COURSES: 

  • The race course will not be closed to boat traffic.  Please be aware and courteous.
  • Use of headphones is discouraged as that prohibits your ability to safely hear oncoming traffic and other racers.
  • A USGS approved PFD is required to race (on a person, or on a vessel).  Leashes are strongly recommended for safety.
  • Racer bibs must be on racer's RIGHT side  (or right side of craft for OC/SKI/KAYAK) to be visible to timing officials.
