SEPTEMBER 12,13,14, 2025 - RACE DAY at Waterman's Landing, Carnelian Bay

5:00 AM: Venue open at Waterman's Landing

5:30 AM: Recommended leaving North Tahoe / Waterman's Landing

6:30 AM: Venue open at El Dorado Beach, South Lake Tahoe

6:30 AM: Athlete check-in at the Waterman's tent

7:00 AM: Mandatory Race meeting - on the El Dorado Beach, South Lake Tahoe

7:15 AM: Mandatory escort boat meeting - on the water within distance of the Waterman's Race boat

7:30 AM: RACE START - 10 minutes waves (SUP & Prone | OC's and Surfskis | 6-man Outrigger

2:00 PM: Cut-off time

2:30 PM: Awards ceremony and meal celebration

Whatever day we are racing - Watermans will host various special activities for the athlete and their families. Remember that Tahoe is a magical playground with many activities available on and off days.

The event venue and the finish line are at Watermans Landing in Carnelian Bay.

The Crossing starts at El Dorado Beach South Tahoe and finishes at Waterman's Landing in Carnelian Bay.

Because we don’t want to introduce destructive snails or mussels to Tahoe, and we don’t want to transport aquatic weeds that have invaded Lake Tahoe and several of its tributaries, simply Clean, Drain, and Dry our watercraft and gear every time we haul out after use, and properly Dispose of any plants or debris we find. It’s easy to add to our regular habits, and it matters. For more information.

SPECIAL SAFETY NOTE

Lake Tahoe is an alpine mountain lake at 6000 feet of elevation and we suggest practicing smart mountain safety. Plan to check weather conditions for race day temperature and winds. Plan to dress appropriately.

All paddlers will be required to paddle with their cell phones or tracking device.

For an added safety measure, the racecourse is divided into approximately two sections; from South Lake Tahoe to Sugarpine Point State Park (10 miles buoy) - to Watermans Landing (12 miles). If needed, Sugarpine Point Beach can be an exit point for athletes in need.

Athletes rescued from the water will be dropoff at the closes convenient lake public access (unless immediate medical assistance is required) and the athletes will be responsible for their own transport from that moment on.

In an absolute emergency rescue, paddle craft could be left afloat in the Lake.

PARKING

There is free parking at the event site. Navigate to Watermans Landing, in Carnelian Bay, and along the streets in the neighborhood, parking is available at El Dorado Beach South Lake Tahoe. All 6-man outrigger crews will be responsible for their transportation and the transportation of their Canoe.

COFFEE, BREAKFAST, AND LUNCH

Tahoe Watermans Cafe is located on the shores of Lake Tahoe and offers a healthy organic menu with breakfast and lunch served all day, a coffee bar, beer, and wine, and offers exclusive access to a public beach, free parking, a public beach club facility, and the beach is dog-friendly (one of the only "dog beaches" in Lake Tahoe area).

REFUND

Except for wait-list transfers, entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. If we do not have paddlers on the waiting list willing to accept a race entry, then, unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund. If the race is canceled due to extreme weather, fire, or some other unforeseeable event outside of our control, WE CANNOT OFFER REFUNDS, and a credit for a future event will be issued.

Home to miles upon miles of breathtaking Sierra Nevada wilderness, hiking and exploring trails on foot are among the best ways to access the untouched beauty of North Lake Tahoe.

If you’re looking for a little uphill assistance, check out Northstar California for a gondola ride up the mountain to the perfect picnic spot along with a variety of easily accessible hiking trails, or The Village at Squaw Valley, where you can climb over 2,000’ on the Aerial Tram with 360° views of Lake Tahoe and the High Sierra.

BIKING

Lake Tahoe biking offers some of the best views of North Lake Tahoe. Best seen on two wheels, choose from miles upon miles of road biking paths to nationally-rated mountain biking trails offering panoramic views of the Lake.

The Northstar California Bike Park leads the gravity-born downhill, cross-country, and freeride industry with the largest lift-served bike park on the West Coast. The park has nearly 60 percent beginner and intermediate trails and is ideal for learning and growing. In contrast, more advanced trails, like the iconic Livewire, offer experienced riders a range of technical challenges and a smooth flow.

Or experience the renowned 14-mile Flume Trail’s breathtaking lake views. Although those afraid of heights are forewarned, the ride takes place at 7,000’ to 8,000’ in elevation, with over 1,000’ of climbing in the first four miles truly exhilarating.

MUSIC

All summer long, Tahoe’s peaks and valleys are alive with the sound of music. Almost every night in the summer starting in early June, Tahoe visitors can catch live music at various epic locations. Events run from June to September and vary from free music on the beach to world-class music festivals in the mountains. The music is fantastic, and the views can’t be found elsewhere!
