7:00 AM: Event venue open

7:30 AM Registration and check-in opens

8:25 AM: Grom Mandatory Race meeting on the water's edge

8:30 AM: Grom RACE START

9:00 AM: Grom awards ceremony & celebration meal

9:15 AM: Short Course Mandatory Race meeting on the water's edge

9:30 AM: Short Course RACE START

11:00 AM Short Course awards & celebration meal

11:30 AM Registration and check-in open for Downwind Course

1:45 PM: Mandatory Race meeting on the water's edge at Kaspian Point

2:00 PM: Downwind Course RACE START at Kaspian Point/Blackwood Canyon on the West Shore

4:30 PM CUT OFF time (2.5 hours) Racers must have completed the course

Whether you are racing or spectating - Watermans will host various special activities for the athlete and their families. Remember that Tahoe is a magical playground with many activities available on and off days.

AWARDS CEREMONIES AND LUNCH

Awards ceremony for all distances will follow each race in the finish area.

Post-race celebratory meal - The food will be distributed at the finish area.

Day-of registration and event venue is at Watermans Landing, in Carnelian Bay

The Downwind race starts at Kaspian Point/Blackwood Canyon on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and finishes at Watermans Landing in Carnelian Bay.

Because we don’t want to introduce destructive snails or mussels to Tahoe, and we don’t want to transport aquatic weeds that have invaded Lake Tahoe and several of its tributaries, simply Clean, Drain, and Dry our watercraft and gear every time we haul out after use, and properly Dispose of any plants or debris we find. It’s easy to add to our regular habits, and it matters. For more information.

SPECIAL SAFETY NOTE

Lake Tahoe is an alpine mountain lake at 6000 feet of elevation and we suggest practicing smart mountain safety. Plan to check weather conditions for race day temperature and winds. Plan to dress appropriately.

PARKING

There is free parking at the event site. Navigate to Watermans Landing, in Carnelian Bay, and along the streets in the neighborhood. Parking is available at Kaspian Point/Blackwood Canyon on the West Shore and at the entrance of Blackwood Canyon.

COFFEE, BREAKFAST, AND LUNCH

Tahoe Watermans Cafe is located on-site and offers a healthy organic menu with breakfast and lunch served all day, a coffee bar, beer, and wine, and exclusive access to a public beach, free parking, a public beach club facility, and the beach is dog-friendly (one of the only summertime "dog beaches" in the Lake Tahoe area).

REFUND

Except for wait-list transfers, entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. If we do not have paddlers on the waiting list willing to accept a race entry, then, unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund. If the race is canceled due to extreme weather, fire, or some other unforeseeable event outside of our control, WE CANNOT OFFER REFUNDS, and a credit for a future event will be issued.

HIKING

Home to miles upon miles of breathtaking Sierra Nevada wilderness, hiking and exploring trails on foot are among the best ways to access the untouched beauty of North Lake Tahoe.

If you’re looking for a little uphill assistance, check out Northstar California for a gondola ride up the mountain to the perfect picnic spot along with a variety of easily accessible hiking trails, or The Village at Squaw Valley, where you can climb over 2,000’ on the Aerial Tram with 360° views of Lake Tahoe and the High Sierra.

And for those looking for some extra adventure, explore Squaw Valley’s most iconic rock face, The Tram Face, on the all-new Tahoe Via Ferrata routes operated by local guide service Alpenglow Expeditions.

BIKING

Lake Tahoe biking offers some of the best views of North Lake Tahoe. Best seen on two wheels, choose from miles upon miles of road biking paths to nationally-rated mountain biking trails offering panoramic views of the Lake.

The Northstar California Bike Park leads the gravity-born downhill, cross-country, and freeride industry with the largest lift-served bike park on the West Coast. The park has nearly 60 percent beginner and intermediate trails and is ideal for learning and growing. In contrast, more advanced trails, like the iconic Livewire, offer experienced riders a range of technical challenges and a smooth flow.

Or experience the renowned 14-mile Flume Trail’s breathtaking lake views. Although those afraid of heights are forewarned, the ride takes place at 7,000’ to 8,000’ in elevation, with over 1,000’ of climbing in the first four miles truly exhilarating.

MUSIC

All summer long, Tahoe’s peaks and valleys are alive with the sound of music. Almost every night in the summer starting in early June, Tahoe visitors can catch live music at various epic locations. Events run from June to September and vary from free music on the beach to world-class music festivals in the mountains. The music is fantastic, and the views can’t be found elsewhere!
