2015 Lake Murray SUP Classic

September 25-27th, the 2015 Lake Murray SUP Classic, presented by Lake Murray Paddle Club, returns to the shores of Lake Murray for a full weekend of SUP fun! In its fourth year, this event features races for all skill levels--short and long-distances for intermediate through elite paddlers, a first-timer's challenge, kids' race and a race featuring our Special Olympics South Carolina  Area 7 SUP team. The Lake Murray SUP Classic is the final race in the 2015 Southern Stoke Race Series, a summer series of races on rivers and lakes throughout the Southeast. Race proceeds benefit the Special Olympics South Carolina.

The weekend begins Friday, Sept. 25 with a packet pickup extravaganza.  Fun, food, swap meet, live music, and refreshments.  While you're picking up your race packet or completing a last-minute registration at the Lake Murray Country Visitors Center, learn about the history that lies underneath lake waters, the development of one of the largest earthen dams and all the reasons why this lake is called the 'Jewel of South Carolina.'

Saturday is race day and we start early with a race that features our own Special Olympics South Carolina SUP team. This race is the culmination of the team's summer training program and will be an inspiring start to the day. In addition to racing, take an opportunity to visit our sponsor tents.  Watch for more details. Like last year, our post-race party and awards ceremony will be held at British Bulldog, approximately 3 miles from the race location. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate the day as a paddle community, enjoy more good food, drink and live music.

And just before you pack it up and head home, join us for a relaxed Sunday morning paddle followed by brunch at Liberty on the Lake.

It’s a full weekend of family fun! Come join us!

Note there is no day of race registration.  You MUST be registered by midnight Friday September 25, 2015.

Distance to turn around buoy may be adjusted on race day depending on conditions, however, overall red course distance will remain the same. Special Olympics (SO) and Kid's Race will be along beach one or two laps depending on ages and skills of paddles registered.  Exact buoy placement and distance for SO and kid's races will be determined on race day as conditions dictate.
