3rd Annual Providence Paddle Battle

November 6 @ 9 Pier Road, East Providence, RI, United States

GENERAL INFO

Imagine what it would be like paddling through the streets of Venice, buildings rising above you, people waving from windows or pathways along side of you.  The canals weave and curve through the city, passing different buildings, parks and bridges.  Well, now is your chance!

The 3rd Annual Providence Paddle Battle benefits Clean Ocean Access, a nonprofit organization concerned with safety, cleanliness and open access of the ocean and coastlines with a primary focus on Rhode Island. Clean Ocean Access formed in 2006 and represents a general interest of the community to protect, maintain and preserve the environment of today, for tomorrow and future generations to allow us to continue to enjoy ocean activities. Please visit www.cleanoceanaccess.org for more information.

The Providence Paddle Battle is a stand up paddle board race that starts and finishes in the beautiful Seekonk River at the East Providence Yacht Club.  The short course is approximately 3 miles long and the long course is approximately 10 miles long. The long and short courses will both head into the heart of the city, paddling through the hurricane barrier, past the Hot Club and into the Providence River.  Once the turn buoy is reached, you will paddle back out of the city and then return past India Point.  The long course will continue on, heading north under the iconic Crook Point Bascule bridge, into the Seekonk River for a few miles before reaching the second turn buoy and heading back.

There's never been a race venue quite like this.  The idea has been in the works for some time now and we are thrilled to make this a reality.  Come meet other New England paddlers, support a great cause, paddle in a very unique area and put your paddling skills to the test!
