On June 10th, 2017 Taylorsville-Spencer County Tourist, Recreation & Convention Commission will host the fourth annual Taylorsville Lake Paddle Battle. This paddlesports race is the third event in the Kentucky Waterman Series, featuring 2, 6 and 10 mile races for a diverse fielding of solo and tandem paddlecraft; SUP, Kayak, high performance kayaks, canoe, outrigger and prone boards. New for this year is a Friday night pre-race festival including Louisville Flyboard, , cookout, and other family-friendly activities. Located just a few miles outside of Louisville Metro, Taylorsville is a welcome respite from the city, offering a day trip full of fun in the water and along the trails of the Taylorsville Lake State Park.
Racers will launch from the boat ramp at beautiful Taylorsville Lake State Park and complete their loop courses surrounded by rolling hills and forest land. Taylorsville Lake, created in 1983 by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, covers 3,050 acres, has a shoreline of 78 miles. and one of Kentucky’s premier venues for water sports.
The post-race celebration will be at Tanglewood Golf Resort where paddlers will gather for fellowship, music and, of course, the presentation of race awards.
We encourage racers to bring friends and family to visit and cheer you on, even if they aren't participating in the race. Attendees have options to hike or ride the park trails, rent boats at the marina and enjoy the general scenery and sunshine with a community of Kentucky water men and women.
