All racers launch from the Inlet Ave beach which serves as both the start and finish line for the out and back courses.  Racers proceed west moving from the right (north) side of Tybee Creek to the left (south) side of the creek (see map below).

There will be large orange buoys marking the turnaround points for the short course, 3.1 miles, (first buoy) and the long course, 6.2 miles (second buoy).  Keep the orange buoys on your left and proceed counterclockwise around the buoys when making your turn back to the finish line.  The return route to the finish line is the same as the outbound route, but in the opposite direction and to the right of any racers still paddling on the outbound part of a route.  Watch for power boats and avoid non-race traffic in the middle of the creek.  Avoid the shallow water close to the marsh grass (sharp oysters).
