The Battle for Barrel Rum Runner surf sprint pays tribute to the prohibition legends that spread across the barrier islands of Absecon. The Battle for the Barrel is a four mile surf dash starting and finishing in Absecon Inlet. Two buoy turns, one back bay and the final turn into the surf must be timed just right to catch a wave in for the win. After the battle, the fun 2 mile guided paddle will take place in the back bay. Primal Surf Shop will be hosting a SUP clinic, providing a wide variety of SUP boards to demo. After the ocean fun concludes, the after party will be hosted by Little Water Distillery in Atlantic City. The over all winner will have their name branded on a Little Water spirit barrel and receive their own craft spirit to celebrate. Psychedelic hand crafted wooden trophies will also be awarded to second and third place, along with other categories. All proceeds will be donated to the kick start of a newly founded local non-profit, Atlantic Ocean Awareness who's goal is to proactively educate children about ocean safety and rip current awareness.
