The BayCreek Cup Race is on again!  Well, sort of. We are hosting a low-key, low-frills, last-minute gathering to celebrate the 10^th anniversary of this fun event.

This paddling race will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023.  Hosted by John Hair and assisted by Ken and the BayCreek staff, this 5-mile (SUP) and 8-mile (kayak) race will be held on Irondequoit Bay in Rochester NY. While typically a flat-water course, the bay can get a little lumpy depending on wind and boat-wake conditions.

There is no registration fee for this race. Race-day registrations will be OK, although we prefer signups ahead of time to prepare for parking/dock space/etc. No awards planned, although we will tabulate and publish the results.

Food and drink – potluck style! Bring a dish (and/or drinks) to pass…  We will gather afterwards to grill some hot dogs, black-bean burgers, or whatever you decide to bring.  😊  Look for a sign-up list by Google sheet.

Paddlers will meet at BayCreek Paddling Center, located on Empire Blvd in Rochester, New York.

This race is being run under the Common Adventure model. You are responsible for your own safety. The race directors assume no liability. There will be no chase boats. All paddlers must have a PFD, leg or paddle leash, and whistle. A phone in a waterproof case is encouraged. Failure to carry these items will result in exclusion from the official results. Do not register for this race unless you are comfortable paddling alone and have solid self-rescue skills.
