This is a two-day race clinic for the California River Quest. Clinic is limited to 12 participants total.
April 19 – Intro to Moving Water
In the morning, we will learn about moving water and rapids - the biggest and most fun challenge of the CRQ (besides the distance, of course).
The morning features a mix of on-land and water-based theory and practice. After lunch, we will set a shuttle and then paddle several miles of the CRQ course, which contain some exciting rapids.
April 20 – Downriver Paddle
Day 2 will be a group downriver paddle through a longer section of the river, approx 15-20 miles.
Exact courses will be set on the day of, depending on the flow rate of the river, which varies this time of year.
If your river experience is limited, please attend both days.
Safety
The clinic takes place on the Sacramento River, which has rapids, swift current, and water hazards. All racers must be capable of self-rescue in their race craft in these conditions.
