This is a two-day race clinic for the California River Quest. Racers may sign up for either day or both. Note: Each day of the clinic is limited to 12 participants total.
March 27 – Intro to Moving Water (Redding)
On the first day of the clinic, we will learn about moving water and rapids - the biggest and most fun challenge of the CRQ (besides the distance, of course).
The morning features a mix of on-land and water-based theory and practice. After lunch, we will set a shuttle and then paddle the first six miles of the CRQ course, which contain some of the most exciting rapids. The highlight of the day will be running Kutras Chute, a fast, a fun standing wave on the early part of the course.
March 28 – Redding to Checkpoint 1 – 25 miles (Balls Ferry, Anderson)
On the second day of the clinic, you practice what you have learned and paddle the entire 1st section of the CRQ (25 miles). Those who have previous moving water experience but did not participate in Day 1 are welcome to join us as well.
Note: As always, plans may change depending on weather.
