This race is open to all paddlecraft; surfskis, kayaks, outrigger canoes, and SUPs. We will launch from Dutton Island Preserve in Jacksonville Beachand paddle south on the ICW to the Usina Bridge at Vilano Beach (31 miles). We are timing the race to coincide with the incoming and outgoing tides and, hopefully, provide a little push along the way.
We have reserved Dutton Island Preserve for the race and offer Friday night boat drop, overnight parking, and camping for those interested in arriving on Friday before the race. On race day, Registration and Check-in starts at 6 AM and the race starts at 7:30 AM. Lunch and awards will follow at the end!
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:
All crafts are REQUIRED TO HAVE at least 1 cell phone onboard and a PFD/Whistle for every paddler. Paddlers must carry their own hydration/nutrition. We suggest a minimum of 70 oz of water/gatorade. (Safety boats will have emergency water but participants should prepare to be self-reliant).
Since this a point-to-point race, paddlers will need to arrange shuttles back to their cars, or have a friends and family pick them up at the end.
