Now proudly part of and kicking off the 2021 season for the Southern Stoke Paddle Series, River Dog Outpost & Paddle Co's Spirit of the Sun Festival and Chieftain's Challenge Race is back! June 5, 2021. Flatwater Short and Long Races are open to SUPs, kayaks & single or double blade crafts paddling up and down stream, touching on each of Downtown Rome's 3 Rivers. 

Novice and elite adult paddlers have the opportunity to race for awesome prizes and points in our...

• 3 Mile Novice-Friendly Open Race for adult recreational paddlers of all abilities and those competing for race points - $35 Registration
• 6 Mile Elite Race for adult experienced paddlers and those competing for race points - $45 Registration. 

River Dog Outpost & Paddle Co's Spirit of the Sun Festival features all the good times - yoga, live music, beer, boards & good vibes! Beyond the extensive craft beers and fun beverages available at River Dog Outpost, attendees are encouraged to shop and enjoy food & drinks from Downtown Rome businesses throughout the day. Book a room and stay for more festivities after the awards ceremony at the race after-party at River Dog Outpost with live music. Please note that River Dog Outpost is a 21 & over only establishment!

Spirit of the Sun is a celebration of our 3 rivers and the history and heritage they encompass - the Oostanaula, Coosa, and Etowah. The event is created to encourage local citizens and visitors to take in the majesty of our rivers that run through downtown and enjoy our riverside walking and biking paths, pedestrian bridges overlooking the race course, parks and green spaces. This is Rome's Signature event, and our city's epic SUP/Kayak/River Event, in partnership with Georgia's Rome!

Race entry fee includes the much sought after Spirit of the Sun t-shirt and benefits our local river protectors, the Coosa River Basin Initiative, located in Downtown Rome.
