Welcome to the 3rd Annual Clear Lake Iowa Paddlefest 2020! ***NEW DATE AND LOCATION***

  • Time: Packet pick up/check-in is 8:00am-9:15am. Start time @ 9:30am
  • Location: State Park Beach, 5999 S Shore Ct, Clear Lake, IA 50428
  • Kayaks, Canoes, and Stand Up Paddle Boards allowed
  • 5 mile and 3 mile courses plus a fun 1 mile island loop
  • Kids can ride along with an adult for free

Thanks to you and our sponsors, together we have raised over $2,000 for Make-A-Wish! $10 of all event participants entry fee will go towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Their Mission Statement is "Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses." You can read more about their story at www.wish.org. 

The best way to experience Clear Lake is by being on the lake. Grab your paddle and join the fun for our 3rd annual Paddlefest event! Explore the shores on your kayak, canoe, or SUP on either our 5 mile, 3 mile, or the fun 1 mile loop.  Bring the kids to ride along as well!  Check out our Course Map tab to see our routes. See our Schedule tab for our race day line up. Need to rent a kayak, canoe, or SUP? We will have some for rent, but there will be limited availability!


This is a FUN ride! No pressure on what your time is. We are timing it for those who wish to make it competitive. Our goal is to promote an active lifestyle while enjoying our beautiful lake. This is a great opportunity for water sport enthusiasts to come together and have a good time! Afterwards, stay for awards and celebrate your finish with food, drinks, family, and friends!


PLEASE REGISTER IN ADVANCE! (RACE DAY REGISTRATION WILL BE ALLOWED, BUT WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR AWARDS)
-Entry Fee for the 1 mile loop is $20 
-Entry Fee for the 3 mile course is $35 per paddler and $40 race day
-Entry Fee for the 5 mile course is $40 per paddler and $45 race day

Registration Includes:

-Race t-shirt (Must be registered by July 10th to be guaranteed a shirt)

-1st place award for each age group in each category Male and Female

***New this year we will have Male and Female age group awards

-Food and drink for participants

-Raffle Prize: Participants will have a chance to win prizes donated by our sponsors and supporters

-Fun day on Clear Lake and opportunity to meet other paddlers!

Race Start
The 5-mile paddlers will start first. The 3-mile paddlers will follow. 
The order of the paddlers will be: 
1) Kayaks
2) Canoes
3) Paddle boards
There will be 3-minute intervals between each category. Please see our Schedule tab for more information.

-Registration includes 1 paddler. If you have a tandem kayak or canoe, you must register and pay for each paddler. At this time, we only offer awards for the top overall male, female, and mixed tandem vessels. 

-The 1 mile loop will go last. The island loop is a fun ride for beginners or people looking for a short option. It will not be timed and there will not be awards for this course. 


Course
It will be held along the south shore of the lake. It will be marked with mile markers and turn around buoys. As you complete the course, keep the buoys on your right side. We will have aid boats and sea doos on the course in case you have any questions or need assistance after you start. The CLFD will also be patrolling in their red boat in case of any emergencies. Weather Policy
In the case of thunderstorms the day of the race, a weather delay of 30 minutes to one hour may be set in place. We will not send racers onto the water if lightning persists. In the event of cancellation, we cannot offer refunds. T-shirts will still be given out to all who registered in time to secure one. Following that deadline, t-shirts will be available while supplies last.
