THURSDAY, MAY 1, 2014

5-7pm  LAZY DOG YAPPY HOUR

Join us at Lazy Dog for a casual meet and greet happy hour at Hurricane Hole Marina, 5130 US 1, Key West. Meet the dogs and feel free to bring Fido on a leash! This event is open to the general public. Free board demos and drink specials!

FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2014

2-4pm Training Techniques and Race Preparation Clinic with Larry Cain, $75 at Higgs Beach. Register at Paddleguru.com

Learn from Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist, this clinic will focus on training technique (drills, using resistance, technique workouts) and race skills/preparation/strategy.

5-8pm  KICK-OFF PARTY AND REGISTRATION PACKET PICKUP AT TURTLE KRAALS

Racers can catch up, discuss race strategies, review course map! Invite your friends and family to this fun free event. Bocci courts and corn hole games!  Complimentary KONA BEER.

7:00 am: Classic Expo Opens / Help Yourself Breakfast served on the beach

8:30 am  Racer’s Meeting (Rules & Course Review) and Hawaiian Pule Blessing directly following

9:00 am: 12-Mile Elite Race (ocean start), beach finish

9:15am: 4-Mile Open Race (ocean start), beach finish

3:30 pm: Wrap-up at the Beach

9:15am  4-MILE OPEN RACE, $60

Race divisions include Standup 14', 12'6, Stock (12' and under)

Since this is an ocean race we will watch the wind and tides before setting the course.  The course will be set as a out and back (buoy) course. Ocean start and a beach finish.


AWARDS CELEBRATION 6pm-10pm

Located at Turtle Kraals & Half Shell Raw Bar Plaza in Lands End Village along the Historic Seaport.

Join us for live music and dancing! Awards celebration includes food, drink specials, prize drawings for all participants and awards presentation and special acknowledgement for our top finishers.

Complimentary admission for all racers. Tickets for friends/family can be purchased on Paddleguru.com or at the door for just $15/person at the awards party. Includes dinner and two free Kona draft beers.

SUNDAY, MAY 4

FUN ON THE BEACH


Higgs Beach, Key West

8:30am-9:30am  Kids SUP CLINIC

For all levels!
Reserve your chikd's spot on the registration page. 
Please use your child's name for the entry. 

$30 Clinic includes free entry into the kids race.

9:45am  KIDS RACE

Fun double loop course.
15 and under, $10 (race only, no clinic)

10:30am-11:30am SPECIAL OLYMPICS RACE  A one-mile loop race.


11:30am STAND UP SPRINT RACES, $10

12’6 and under boards only, men’s and women’s divisions. The sprint races will run in heats. Top two finishers in each heat will continue on to next heat.  We will sprint to a buoy, make a left hand turn and sprint back. The final race will be a challenge for the top 5 men and women athletes.

12:30 pm  STAND UP RELAY RACES, $10/person

The relay race is always the most fun and memorable. Teams will consist of four persons with at least one female per team. Only one board can be used per team, 12’6″race board recommended. The course will be eight laps, each team member will run through course twice.  This is an ocean circuit race.  There will be a beach start, a short loop course, competitors will beach their board, run through an obstacle course, then tag their teammate.

1:00pm  Wrap up on the beach and head over to Salute!!!! KWPC racers invited to enjoy a "special" Happy Hour/Live Music. 

Join us at Salute for Happy hour and lunch 1pm-3pm. Salute offers daily specials and live music. Salute is home of the HOMEMADE Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sammy! One of our local paddlers bakes these fresh daily! Ask Coach Mike Metzger :)
